Terms
The agreement between your church and Engine. Written to be read rather than clicked past, so it is short and it says what it means.
Promo Engine is made by Engine. Everything on this page that says Engine covers Promo Engine, and the address at the end reaches the person who builds both.
What Engine is
Engine is church software: People, Operations and Communications on one account, with an assistant built into it. Communications is open today, sold on its own as Promo Engine at promoengine.church, and that is what a church that signs up today gets. People and Operations open on the same account when they are ready, and when they do, a Promo Engine account becomes an Engine account with everything in it carried over. Engine itself is at engine.church.
Your account
Whoever sets a church up is its owner. The owner invites staff and decides what each of them may open. You are responsible for who you invite and for keeping your own sign-in to yourself. Tell us if you think an account has been taken over and we will help you shut it.
You need to be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and you need the church's authority to sign it up.
What you may not do with it
- Use it to send anything unlawful, or to harass anyone.
- Put records in it that you have no right to hold.
- Try to reach another church's data, or test whether you can without asking us first. Ask us first and we will say yes.
- Resell it as your own product.
Your church's records are your church's
You own what you put in. We do not. We hold it to run the product for you, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train a model. You can take it out: answers to a form come out as a file, and if you want everything, ask and we will get it to you.
Engine itself, the code and the design, stays ours.
What the AI does and does not do
Three promises, and they are the reason a church board can say yes to this:
- Your church sets the rule. Engine says what is late; you decide what late means. The AI never invents a threshold.
- Nothing sends, publishes or spends without a person pressing a button.
- Engine sends nothing to your members, ever.
The assistant writes drafts and answers questions, and like anything that writes, it can be wrong. Read what it produces before you send it. Do not use it as advice on anything legal, medical or financial.
Paying for it
A new church gets 15 days free and is not asked for a card to start. After that it is a monthly price per church, paid through Stripe, with everyone on your staff included and nothing charged per person: $29 a month for Promo Engine, which is what a new church signs up for today, and the price is on its pricing page. When the rest of Engine opens we will tell you what it costs before anything about your bill changes, in time for you to decide. You can cancel from Billing at any time and everything keeps working until the end of the month you have paid for. Fees already paid for a period you have used are not refunded.
A church that does not continue after its free days, or that cancels, can still read everything it put in. Nothing is written until it continues, and nothing is deleted for not paying.
What we can promise about it working
We aim to keep Engine up and we do not promise it never goes down. There is no uptime guarantee here, and if you need one, say so and we will talk about it rather than pretend this page is one.
Engine is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we make no other warranty, and our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before whatever went wrong. Nothing here limits anything the law does not let us limit.
Other companies
Engine connects to systems you already run, and what happens inside those is between you and them. The list of who processes what is on the privacy page.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like. We can close one that is being used against these terms, and we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it first unless the law stops us. When an account closes, ask for your records and we will get them to you, then delete what is left.
Changes, and the law this sits under
If these terms change in a way that matters to you, we will say so before it takes effect. This agreement is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Write to contact@engine.church and we will answer.
